FREEING THE PRISONERS AND CAPTIVES

This past week I put an update out about me doing some traveling this summer. Some of the things the lord has really placed on my heart is embodying the message found in Matthew 10. A chapter that has really held a firm grip to my heart. This week I just wanted to dive into some of the lessons the lord has been taking me through this week with a focus on freedom.

“Jesus sent out the twelve apostles with these instructions: “Don’t go to the Gentiles or the Samaritans, but only to the people of Israel—God’s lost sheep. Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10:5-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The message remains the same! As I look forward to this trip to spend time with my family I was taking time in prayer and I felt like the lord was saying pray into healings! The northeast where I will be spending the most of time of the trip is an area that I see has a lot of pain and sickness. Also with praying into healings another thing I feel like the lord has shown me is casting out demons. Not something I have a lot of experience in but through the power of the spirit I know this is an area he’s been telling me to eat meat before I leave. So with that this is where we are going to spend the heart of our message today.

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭61:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

First off as I look back into the teachings we have had on demonic possession and oppression I want to say I have reached out to my peers and looked at past messages with Kris and Mark. This teaching I give credit to these different mentors and people. I post this in hopes to share and instill into myself a firm grasp of what the lord is showing me. Taking time to study and really chew the meat I have found has brought me back to the two areas of focus when it comes to demonic activity, captives and prisoners. It’s important to know that those that have accepted Jesus as lord and are hosts of the Holy Spirit can not be possessed and host a demonic spirit but they can be oppressed. Both possession and oppression occur through open doors. No evil spirit can come upon a person unless they have been invited through an open door.

Taking a little time to look at captive and prisoners we can see what kind of open doors have occurred and through that take an approach with the Holy Spirit to bring freeing. Captives are those that have been captured through spiritual war, often times the doors were opened when the one taken captive believed a lie. Prisoners are those that have been sent to prison by the judge (God) often these doors were opened when the prisoner sinned against God as an example un forgiveness. Both of which have let a Spirit in through an open door. As someone co laboring with the spirit we must seek from the spirit, is the oppressed person a captive or a prisoner?

Going in to situations like this we must remember that all authority that the devil had as of the fall was taken back at the cross. Kris always says the devil has a gun - power but he has no badge to use it - authority. Being in Christ we have been given power and authority over evil spirits through the Holy Spirit. It’s important to have no fear or show fear as we rule from victory with Christ. As we identify if the person that is oppressed is a prisoner or a captive through asking questions to the person and Holy Spirit we can walk the person through prayer, binding strongholds, breaking ties with lies, leading through forgiveness, and whatever the spirit shows us. We must continue this process until we have confidence through the spirit that the person has broken all ties. After we can command the demon to leave as he has no more legal right to be there. It also a good idea to make sure the person is a Christian before hand or is willing to accept Christ. This scripture below shows why-

““When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none. Then it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ So it returns and finds its former home empty, swept, and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before. That will be the experience of this evil generation.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:43-45‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We must make sure the persons body is inhabited by the Holy Spirit or else the other spirit will come back worse then before. Even with the lord the spirit will try to come back to oppress the person so we much teach the person that this will happen and that they must denounce whatever lie try’s to come about otherwise the open door can come about re authorizing the oppression.

Now there is no formula when is come to this that’s why we must lead with the Spirit. Once again I wanted to take you on this little lesson as this is something the lord has really told me to be ready to take action when needed on the road. I only lead others in the lessons I have grasped or am working to grasp more of and this is a prime example of a lesson I’m going through at this current moment and I want to bring you in to my person journey and learning with Holy Spirit! If you have any tips or anything you would like to add about this process please comment below. Once again I’m not trying to say I know it all or this is a system just sharing my person lesson. Feel free to share with others to get this message around to help others be ready against the attacks of the enemy and to free others! Bless you all in Jesus name!
