KINGDOM FINANCES GIVING AND RECEIVING
A couple weeks ago I put a post on my personal page about giving and receiving. I wanted to take a little more time today just to dive into kingdom finances.
One of my favorite things about attending Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry is the level of vulnerability, risk taking, generosity, and different avenues of learning. In this environment I find myself not only learning stewardship from my teachers but also my peers. This environment is one of the most giving and generous environments I have ever seen but it’s not just a financial thing but is as well of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Even so with the level of giving in this environment I believe there is still a valuable lesson that needs to be learned before you can truly step into giving with a kingdom heart. What is that might you say? I believe it’s vitally important to be a good receiver!
Everyone knows it nice to give and bless people. You don’t even need to be a believer to have this as a thought process. Regardless some of the best givers are some of the worst receivers! Why is that? I believe it’s actually routed in a false sense of humility. These are the people that even with a compliment have a hard time saying thank you first and would rather return a compliment back because there is actually a sense of unworthiness. I remember back toward the very beginning of school they really instilled in us a willingness to receive. One of my teachers drilled in us daily for the first two months that upon receiving we would always respond back with a “yes, thank you”. As simple as it is we can all struggle with this from time to time.
“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!”
Matthew 10:8 NLT
Although this scripture is a little taken out of context let me show you what I’m putting down. Matthew 10 is an amazing chapter that is a direct dialect between Jesus and his disciples just a couple verses before Jesus tells the Disciples to go and just a couple verses after pretty much says go without all your stuff and don’t worry about it. With the slightest bit of context we can see this is an amazing evangelistic call to go and make disciples of the nations. Go with empty tool belts and share the gospel. So where am I going here? Verse 8 gives us a list of things that we are meant to take with us, but theres something to notice here. You can’t earn that list, what was received was inherited through the Kingdom family. It was given freely for you to receive and then give freely! This is Kingdom!
Kingdom says everything I have lord is yours lord show me how to steward the kings finances! An acknowledged of receiving and a focused stewarding of giving. First off the disciples must have learned how to receive what they have been given or else the knowledge of what has been received is lost in carelessness. Gifts without understanding. Insert and go read ahead (Matthew 25: 14-30) where Jesus gives us an even deeper analysis of the kingdom! Praising the one who understood the receiving and investing what has been given and utterly rebuking the man that did nothing and hide the finances out of fear, not even inquiring interest. Only to give the finances to the one who gived freely.
Bill Johnson says each dollar he receives is another general to deploy for battle. So my question is how are you deploying your generals. How are you making your generals work for you? How are you letting your generals work for others? How are your generals working for the kingdom? We must understand that everything we have is a blessing from God from the moment we receive it! From the point of conception begins the exponential process of giving. Regardless of how you give everything you receive has a life frame that began with receiving and ends in giving. Which means once we receive something we become a steward of its life. Everything in life is vying for your money my question to you is how much are you investing in the kingdom? (Church’s, ministry’s, missionaries, missions trips, students, etc.)
If everything we have is a gifted received from God how can we as believers have such a hard time with giving? Church we should be the most giving people on the planet! Finances, time, love, talents, spiritual gifts! We need to stop being so scared to ask or put out our needs. We need to stop being so scared of talking about money. We need to stop being so up tight about giving. We need to stop have a hard time receiving!
Prosperity says we give to receive, kingdom says we give because we have received! We don’t have much time on this planet and there is so much to do for the kingdom! We all just need to look for ways we could help each other to achieve what is before them in the kingdom. With this as a focus there will be exponential growth in bringing heaven to earth!!
