SONS & DAUGHTERS
Over the past couple weeks we have been talking about 5 attributes to walking in our God given identity, last week we dove into us being Made in God's Image and this week we are going to talk a bit on being Sons and Daughters of God.
“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”
John 1:12-13 NLT
When one is born again after accepting Jesus Christ as there lord and savior they are at that moment adopted by God the Father. Being apart of a royal family and having full access to all the treasures of heaven leads us to living a full life and gives us revelation that God truly is a Good father.
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.””
Romans 8:14-15 NLT
Under Gods Spirit as adopted children there is not need to perform for his love because he is already a loving Father. He’s not the ruler of an orphanage but is caring for all his children. Fearful slaves have a relationship based on works and performance to gain recognition and hope for scraps and bread crumbs to get by, but Sons and Daughter live life out of the revelation that God loves them as a caring Father and will provide for all there needs abundantly, above, and beyond one could think and ask!
Notice how Romans 8 mentions those lead by the Spirit of God are now children and this Spirit is not one that makes us fearful slaves! So how is it that there are believers that still believe God as a mean God ready to punish them if they don’t perform? I would like to suggest that these people have actually moved out of doing life through a relationship with the Father and have moved into a relationship with religion instead! Religion says do but Jesus says done!
It’s time the church moves out of religion, performance, and works and back into a relationship with Father, Son, and Spirit! Jesus has accomplished all that needed to be accomplished and has given us the ability to have a full relationship with the Father face to face! We have the honor and ability to co create with God but it’s not based on what we can do but what he is doing! Divine partnership through relationship!!
