MADE IN GODS IMAGE
Last weeks Message Monday we listed 5 attributes that are key to understanding our Identity. Over the next couple weeks we will be going a little bit into each 5 as we seek to gain a deeper understanding of who we are in Christ.
Made In Gods Image
“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Genesis 1:27 NLT
From the beginning of creation you have been set of for success. We have all been made in Gods image and that inherits every individual having a personality and attributes that no one else has. So how can we understand these attribute more? I believe our identity and the way we view ourself directly tie into the ways that we view God. To truly know ourselves we need to go beyond ourself and reach up to heaven and ask our creator some questions. The root of our identity starts with relationship with him.
Relationship
As we begin to ask the lord some of the most direct questions we could ask he starts to show us the different things he has instilled in us for kingdom purpose. In a relationship connection is often made through communication. Through this communication there’s is confirmation of things being asked. There are a number of way to communicate with him i think the number one way is to pray as prayer can be done anywhere at any time and is a direct conversation with him (he is always with us). Talk to him and be intentional. A couple other ways are to read in the Bible, listen to worship music, whatever you do just get into the secret place with him.
God is in a good mood
The deeper relationship we have with him the more we begin to understand that he is in a good mood and i’sent up in heaven waiting for us to mess up and punish us. As we start to realize this we come to knowledge that we don’t have to do anything to earn his love. He could not love us any more or any less because he loves us to the max! This means we don’t need to perform for answers and we do things out of our love for him and our willingness to build a deeper relationship with him. A great way I hear it said is “we perform from love not for love”.
Who I am is who he says I am.
In today’s culture we often put our identity in what we think other people want us to be. Porn/ hook up culture has completely ravaged our brains and has destroyed our relationships. Men often view women no more than sexual objects and women often adjust there appearance through the distorted image of “what a man wants”. In this both sexes live a life of self gratification and who I am is who you say I am. As we come into relationship with our creator these ties get broken off and the realization is that who we are is not placed in material possessions or other people but 100% in our creator. We move from fear and disappointment to trust and love with our full being coming to knowledge of who God says we are.
We come to truly understand who we are in His image when we seek him and focus on our relationship and see him as the good father that he is. The deeper we go into intimacy with him who we are flows as a river out of who he has made us to be. This week I encourage to you take a couple minutes each day and just get one on one with Papa God and ask him to reveal himself in deeper measure, ask him who he has made you to be. But most importantly take the time to just build a deeper connection and relationship. Thank him and give him glory for where you are and where you have been. He’s a good good Father and loves you tremendously!
God bless you all!
